Type Locality and Naming
In the village of Gujum in the Tubegatan Mountains, South-Western Gissar. V.V. Kurbatov, E.A. Repman, 1982 (253, p.43). Stratotype in the Gaurdak section (Beshbulak). Identified by V.V. Kurbatov in 1978 (60) as Tubegatan layers, and in 1983 - as Tubegatan suite. (59), which turned out to be invalid. M.E. Egamberdyev et al. in 1980 (513) called the G.-t. Fm as Hodzhaypak p., and X.X. Mirkamalov et al. in 1985 (48) - Hodzhaypak Fm ( Khodzhaipak Fm ). Oil producers call it Black Slate or high-gamma p. In the monograph (165) instead of G.-t. mistakenly printed Gujum sv. Upper formation in Kugitang Gr in SW Gissar

Lithology and Thickness
Black bituminous marls, limestones, siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 5-40m
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation along the bedding lies on the Zakharlin Fm
Upper contact
with erosion is covered by sv. n. anhydrites.
Regional extent
Tubegatan, Gaurdak, Bukhara-Karshinsky district. Laterally replaced by the Zakharlin Fm in the direction opposite to the coastline, and in the direction towards the coast - by the Kurek Fm.

Contains ammonites - Othetoceras sp., Lithacoceras sp., Ataxioceras sp.; layers with marine bivalve mollusks - Parallelodon lutugini - Parallelodon gissarensis; foraminifera - Lenticulina münsteri (Roemer), Epistomina parastelligera (Hofker); fish - Pholidoporinae; radiolarians (381; 462).
